I had the awesome privilege to get up close and personal with The James Webb Space Telescope near completion. Assembled in California but launched from French Guiana and research facilities located in Hawaii - this is a world project! These photos span from Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena California to The Mauna Kea Observatories, Big Island of Hawaii.
Its very hard to describe my style that developed over the years. I titled this album Tincture to compare its whole process. I mix different lights, colored gels, multiple triggered flashes, liquor bottles, and one long exposure to create its signature look.
I spent my early years playing in the dirt and working with my grandfather who tended gardens in Beverly Hills. I fell in love with sunlight breaking through tree leaves way before picking up the camera.
Liz and I met just before high school graduation. She had her mind set for the big screen and I was already behind the lens. Here are my favorites from the past seventeen years.
For a few years I was on tour with Break The Floor Productions. It was awesome! I got to see a great amount of the USA while learning a new language - Dance.
My favorite subject. I enjoy shooting people the most. I rarely use people for my own concepts, I get inspired by their face and experiences. For me it is a team effort or at least a brief relationship in time.
Woman is Art & Art is Woman.
When I found myself using macro lenses for commercial purposes I wondered what the results would be if I mixed my work lens with people instead of products.
A collection of B-side images I have taken while working, assisting, or just supporting a project. I adore the distinctive candid nature these pictures hold.
Very honored to have been on set for The Love of Spock, an enduring appeal of Leonard Nimoy and his portrayal of Spock in Star Trek directed by his son Adam Nimoy. It was very special to hear all about his interactions with family & friends. My favorite was learning he was an avid photographer and seeing his early male model work.
Take time to travel. Spontaneous adventures or planned trips, say yes to all. I was lucky to be on tour for a few years catching planes every weekend. Despite the miles I still have much to see, learn and photograph.
Beauty standards change between cultures and countries. Ancient China’s “lotus foot” beauty standard was small feet. During the Elizabethan era women displayed high foreheads. The Maori people of New Zealand see beauty in tattooing. In West Africa bigger is better! A plump woman has a better chance at finding a husband. In America the ones who can afford plastic surgery can make their own beauty standards and literally make a dream come true. There does not seem to be one universal characteristic that we can all agree on. I believe one inevitable beauty is the kind created by nature herself. The natural and free glamour that is woman. What began as a project to display women without makeup morphed into an everlasting motif.
I seldom shoot still life. But when inspiration arrives it hits me like a truck. My past habits and interests always come back in the form of photographs.
A mix of lovers, weddings, and maternity photos.
Coming into a company with a strong logo and large following I was excited to level up their visuals. Owner and Lash Queen, Yegi, let my imagination and skills run wild. I brought in models, produced social media illustrations, redesigned and created package labels. We even made a magazine for the salon so customers can see styles, curls and lengths of lashes. Here is a mix of my favorite photos.
I was picked up by John Mottishaw when his company was on the cusp of updating their website in a big way. From a late 90s DreamWeaver program to a modern cart system. What began as a standard eCommerce position shooting on white quickly changed to creating much more when I displayed my skills in still life. A fellow coworker and myself also created their new and current logo. Learning what makes pen lovers go crazy for these instruments and showcasing the precious gold details was key to their growth.
